The Farmington Historical Commission is pleased to offer Historic House Plaques for buildings within the City of Farmington constructed in or before 1945. Plaques enhance the appearance of older homes while promoting community awareness of our local history. The plaques do not impose any restrictions on properties.

The Farmington City Clerk processes the plaque orders. The construction date on city assessment records will be used. If the homeowner can offer proof of a more accurate date, a Historical Commission member will contact you after your Application is received to confirm the date of construction.

Plaque Ordering

  • Size: 8.75" h x 12” w - Holes are drilled and screws provided for installation.
  • Color: These custom-made, black-and-gold, oval aluminum plaques have raised lettering.
  • Lettering: The plaque will have the date of construction in 3” letters in the center of the plaque.

Cost: $80. Your plaque will be shipped directly to you two weeks after confirmation of the construction date.
Cost: $40 if the property is within the Historic District (map below). The Farmington Historical Commission will pay the difference.

The custom-made plaque is mailed directly to the homeowner in about 2 weeks and should be affixed
to the front of the house.
