The Riley Park Ice Rink Committee is teaming up with the Farmington Community Library to bring more family-fun event to the community’s ice rink this winter.
The Library plans to host a Star Wars Skate and a Frozen Skate. Both the next Star Wars movie and Frozen movie will be released this holiday season.
“We like to be involved in the community and values partnering with the city,” explained Maria Showich-Gallup, Farmington Library Downtown Branch Head of Youth Services. “Using the Ice Rink feels like a great opportunity for both. Both the Star Wars and Frozen themes are the perfect setting for a skate event - it seem like a win-win.”
The Riley Park Ice Rink is a 4,800-square-foot refrigerated rink, located in the heart of Downtown Farmington, opens in mid-December. It turns Riley Park into a Currier and Ives-type setting, making the park an all-season destination. Riley Park is home to the Farmington Farmers & Artisans Market, Rhythmz in Riley Park and the Harvest Moon Celebration.
The ice rink does not have skate rentals, but does have skates on hand to borrow. If you do have an extra pair of skates you are not planning to use, please consider donating them to the rink by dropping them off at Farmington City Hall, 23600 Liberty Street.
If you or your business is interested in sponsoring the ice rink with a dasher board advertisement, please contact Melissa at 248-474-5500, ext. 2221; or firstname.lastname@example.org
Sharpen your skates and we’ll see you on the ice!!!
