Parks and Recreation

The people of Farmington have made their five city parks part of their lives, and the parks have made their lives richer. Such activities as the Annual Fishing Derby in April, the Kids Day in the Park, the Youth Baseball Tournament, ice-skating, and the recreation programs shared with the City of Farmington Hills show the parks to be popular and busy places many days of the year.

However, the parks also offer residents and visitors places of quiet, peace, and beauty---places to think, relax, and unwind.

Shiawassee, Drake, Masonic, Historic, and Floral Parks make up the parks system in Farmington; but residents and visitors may also discover a "vest-pocket park" downtown along Orchard Street---a delightful surprise for shoppers, businesspeople, and spare-time explorers.

Farmington sponsors an on-going program of parks upkeep and improvement. For example, Shiawassee Park now has two renovated service buildings, a new concession stand, and renovated tennis courts as well. Indeed the parks are one reason for the enjoyable way of life in Farmington.
