Farmington Public Safety accredited by Michigan Association of Chief's of Police

The Farmington Public Safety Department has been recognized by the Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police (MACP) as an accredited agency. Farmington now joins a group of just ten MACP accredited law enforcement agencies throughout the state. Formal approval from the Michigan Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission was granted following a commission hearing on June 24. In granting their approval, commission board members recognized the department’s numerous community policing programs and strong bonds with the community.

Accreditation status represents a significant professional achievement. It further acknowledges the implementation of written directives, policies, and procedures that are conceptually sound and operationally effective. Accredited agencies have a proven track record of providing the highest standards of professionalism in law enforcement services to the communities they serve.

Director Demers said, "Our pursuit of accreditation was a two-year process that involved a thorough review of all of our policies, procedures and operations. The accountability systems we have in place and the administrative and operational efficiencies we have established through the accreditation process will further strengthen our ability to deliver superior public safety services to the community".

Director Demers added, "The entire department contributed to this achievement and I couldn’t be more proud. I’d especially like to recognize the department’s accreditation managers, Officer Matthew Miracle and Commander Andrew Morche, who worked tirelessly to ensure that the accreditation process remained on schedule."

Representatives from the Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police will present the department with a Certificate of Accreditation during the August 20th City Council Meeting.
