Skate Swap Slated for Nov. 6 at Riley Park Ice Rink

Release date: 10/11/2016

The Riley Park Ice Rink Committee will be hosting a skate swap on Sunday, Nov. 6 from 2-4 p.m. at the Riley Park Ice Rink and Sundquist Pavilion.

Those who have skates or skating equipment to sell can register for a space and then bring their skates to swap, or sell. Everyone is welcome, even if they don’t have any sales items.

“Until the rink has a skate rental program in place, this is a great alternative to make sure that kids get skates for the season,” said Melissa Andrade, Riley Park Ice Rink Committee Member. “It’ll be a great way to meet neighbors and friends while taking care of the needs of those who grew out of a pair of skates.”

“Please dig out any gently used skates, give them a quick cleaning and send them in for another skater to use.”

If you would like to participate in the event, please register at Farmington City Hall; by calling 248-474-5500, ext. 2221; or by email: mandrade@farmgov.com. We would like to promote the type of skates, as well as skate size prior to the event.

There will be tables set up for sellers in the Sundquist Pavilion at Riley Park. Volunteers will be on hand to help set up and to assist buyers in finding the right pair of skates.

If you do not need new skates, but you have skates to donate, all donations will be greatly appreciated. We’d like to have some skates on hand at the rink for those in need to borrow.
