Parking Enforcement Officer

Job Description:

Performs a variety of specialized parking enforcement and public contact work in enforcing codes and ordinances governing parking, and assisting the public by providing information about parking locations and regulations.

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
General: (A) Must be 18 years or older at the time of employment; (B) Must possess, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid Michigan driver's license without record of suspension or revocation. (C) No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal histories including 93 day misdemeanors; (D) Must be able to speak, read and write the English language

Education and Experience: (A) High school diploma or GED equivalent

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: (A) Some knowledge of modern parking enforcement principles, procedures, techniques, and equipment; (B) Ability to learn the applicable laws, ordinances, and department rules and regulations; (C) Ability to analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action; Ability to interpret, apply and explain codes, rules, regulations, policies and procedures using tact, patience and courtesy; (D) Ability to maintain accurate records; (E) Ability to communicate effectively; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, supervisors and the public; (F) Ability to follow verbal and written instructions; (G) Ability to learn the City's geography; (H) Must be willing to work some evenings and weekends.

Eligible applicants must be able to pass a background investigation and have no physical restrictions to perform the duties of a parking enforcement officer.
 

Job Compensation

$14/hr
